Coalition

Make Roads Safe is an independent UK non-profit. Make Roads Safe advocates for the policy recommendations of the Commission for Global Road Safety, and leads the Zenani Mandela Campaign, including the Long Short Walk. 

Since 2006, Make Roads Safe has built the support of a broad-based coalition, including public health bodies, motoring organisations, road safety NGOs and international organisations. The campaign is also proud to have had the support of more than a million individuals around the world, who have signed our petition and/or our Call to Action. Together, this coalition has succeeded in securing the first ever Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, hosted by the Russian Federation in 2009; secured UN adoption of our proposal for a ‘Decade of Action for Road Safety’; and persuaded governments to include road safety in the Rio+20 outcome document, ‘The Future We Want’. Now we are campaigning for road safety to be included in the post-2015 development and health agenda, as part of the ‘Sustainable Development Goals’.

Make Roads Safe is currently funded with a grant from the FIA Foundation, a UK registered charity (No: 1088670) which provides philanthropic grants for international road injury prevention. All coalition partners listed below have worked with us to achieve our advocacy objectives. Some of these organisations listed also contribute their own financial and/or human resources to support national traffic safety activities in support of our campaigns.
