The Commission for Global Road Safety has an ad hoc advisory board which reviews the Commission’s major reports and recommendations. The advisory boards have included senior experts from institutions including WHO, OECD, and the World Bank, all serving in a personal capacity, as well as other independent experts.
The Chair of the Editorial Advisory Board, and the Lead Adviser to the Commission for Global Road Safety is Mr Anthony Bliss.
Anthony Bliss currently advises the Global Road Safety Facility, hosted at the World Bank, and supports the World Bank’s participation in the ‘Road Safety in 10 Countries’ project financed by Bloomberg Philanthropies. He was previously Senior Road Safety Specialist, Transport and Urban Development Department, at the World Bank, where the focus of his work was on the development and promotion of multi-sectoral strategies to improve road safety outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. He was also Manager of the Global Road Safety Facility. Prior to his position at the World Bank, Mr. Bliss was General Manager of the Strategy Division at the Land Transport Safety Authority, New Zealand, where he was responsible for the implementation of the National Road Safety Plan and the New Zealand Road Safety Programme. He began his career in 1967 as a transport economist with the Ministry of Transport in New Zealand then moved to Australia to join the National Highways Planning Team at the Commonwealth Bureau of Roads. Mr. Bliss has also worked as a transport consultant and advisor to the Ministry of Finance and National Economy in the State of Bahrain. He is one of the principle contributors to the World Report on Road Traffic Injury Prevention.
