David Ward is Executive Secretary of the Commission for Global Road Safety
David Ward is the Director General of the FIA Foundation for the Automobile and Society, a UK registered international charity created in 2001 which promotes road safety, environmental protection, and sustainable mobility.
He is a member of the Executive Board of the World Bank’s Global Road Safety Facility. He represents the FIA Foundation in the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration. He served as a member of the International Consultative Committee of the first ever Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety held in Moscow in November 2009. David Ward has served on a number of advisory committees of the European Union, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the United Nations, and the World Health Organisation. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP), and eSafety Aware. From its creation in 1996 to 2007 he was on the Board of the European New Car Assessment Programme (EuroNCAP).
The FIA Foundation is the secretariat and initiator of the Commission for Global Road Safety, and coordinates the global Make Roads Safe campaign. Established in 2002 as a registered charity in the UK, the FIA Foundation is a leader in global road safety campaigns and research, working closely with the World Health Organisation (WHO), the World Bank and the United Nations (UN) and other international partners to promote road safety. The Foundation is a member of the UN Road Safety Collaboration, the Global Road Safety Partnership and a major contributor to the recently established World Bank Global Road Safety Facility.
