The head of the American Public Health Association (APHA) has written to UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and the US Ambassador to the UN, Zalmay Khalilzad, urging action on global road safety.
Dr Georges Benjamin, Executive Director of APHA, the largest public health association in the world, calls on the US Government to support the forthcoming UN resolution on global road safety, warning: “it is clear that road safety is a critically important public health, transportation and economic concern”. APHA is a member of the Make Roads Safe campaign coalition calling for a UN conference on global road safety.
