Costa Rica’s Make Roads Safe campaign has achieved 200,000 petition signatures, the largest sign up from one country.

The campaign, coordinated by Leda Aguilar of the Automobile Club of Costa Rica, has involved the national road safety council, COSEVI; the Ministry of Transport, and private sector companies like Castrol and Best Western.

Costa Rica’s Transport Minister, Karla Gonzalez, joined auto club President Carlos Macaya to pack the petition bundles and send them to New York: for the attention of UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.
