Georgian road safety NGO Partnership for Road Safety has launched the Make Roads Safe campaign with the support of First Lady Sandra Elisabeth Roelofs.
At the launch of the campaign Ms Roelofs said: “I am privileged to be a face of the "Make Roads Safe" campaign in Georgia. Road safety is an increasing problem for the whole world, including Georgia. We all need to put our efforts to make driving and roads safe and reach an adequate medical response when road accidents occur. I experience every week at nursing practice how many and how badly, especially the young people, get injured on the roads. Let's simply start buckling our seat belts. It is so easy! I am personally supporting the children road safety education project which will be piloted by the Partnership and the Ministry of Education in 40 schools of Georgia”.
The campaign launch was supported by the Parliamentary Committee on Health and Social Affairs and the International Association of Business & Parliament. NGOs, politicians and the sports community are all being mobilised to sign the Make Roads Safe petition in the run up to the UN General Assembly debate on March 31st.
