Lebanese Minister of Transport supports Make Roads Safe

The Lebanese Minister of Transport, Mohammed Safadi, has signed the Make Roads Safe global petition at a meeting in Beirut on 17 April.

Attending the meeting were also Mr Said Dahdah, Road Safety Consultant at the World Bank’s Global Road Safety Facility, Rita Cuypers, Director of Road Safety at the FIA Foundation, Jacques Salha, Vice-President of the Automobile Club of Lebanon and Fady Gebrane, founder of the Kunhadi Youth Road Safety Awareness Association.

Minister Safadi discussed the road safety problems that Lebanon faces, including poorly maintained road infrastructure and inadequate funding for police enforcement. Rita Cuypers presented the Minister with a copy of the Make Roads Safe report and welcomed his support for the Make Roads Safe campaign and the proposal for a UN Ministerial Conference on global road safety.
