Beijing road safety forum hears UN call

Chinese policymakers have been urged to support the Make Roads Safe campaign at a road safety forum in Beijing.

Make Roads Safe campaign coordinator Saul Billingsley called on Chinese road safety experts and health officials to use their influence to urge Chinese support for a UN Ministerial conference when the UN General Assembly debates the proposal in November. The conference, organised by the World Health Organization and the Chinese Ministry of Health and Ministry of Public Security, was held in Beijing on 25/26 June. China has at least 100,000 road fatalities each year, and motorisation is rapidly increasing.
