Reiterating one of the central messages of the Make Roads Safe campaign Mr Burden said:

“Building safety into road infrastructure is crucial if we are serious about meeting the Millennium Development Goals. One of these goals is to reduce infant mortality and preventable disease. This campaign shows that the absence of basic and easy to implement road safety measures will equal failure in terms of tackling this preventable cause of death”.

Adding his support to the Make Roads Safe campaign, Barry Sheerman MP said, “road safety saves so many lives and so much misery, it is a very good investment, and this is a great campaign.”
