Charlatan joins Dirty Pretty Things to Make Roads SafeTim Burgess, lead singer with the Charlatans, was the surprise special guest at a Dirty Pretty Things gig for the Make Roads Safe campaign. Burgess sang Charlatans hit ‘North Country Boy’ with the band, during the charity show at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire, before segueing into Rolling Stones classic ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’ – a sentiment road safety campaigners can identify with. Dirty Pretty Things have supported the Make Roads Safe campaign since three teenage fans were killed in a road crash in 2006. This was the second special gig the band had played for the campaign, and guitarist Anthony Rossamondo called on the audience to back the campaign at the start of the first UN Global Road Safety Week. Dirty Pretty Things used the show to preview some new songs as well as audience favourites from the DPT and Libertines back catalogues. Campaign volunteers handed out booklets specially designed for the show and all DPT band t-shirts on sale included a Make Roads Safe logo emblazoned on the sleeve.
