Crossing the World for Road Safety

Two British drivers are aiming to become the first people in the world to cross the full extent of the Asia-Pacific Highway and are making their journey to highlight road safety issues – including the Make Roads Safe campaign.

Teacher Richard Meredith and tour operator Phil Colley have embarked on a 10,000 mile journey through 16 countries in an Aston Martin V8 Vantage. They have dedicated their drive to the UN Road Safety is No Accident programme and have also offered their support to the Make Roads Safe campaign.

Colley said: “We are proud, in our small way, to be joining in the effort of focusing attention on road safety among the young.”

Along with UN support, the drive also has the backing of Aston Martin and a variety of international companies. The two drivers are scheduled to arrive in the UK on 13 August. Visit the Aston Martin Asia Highway website to track the drivers' progress and get further information:
