Most Dangerous Day for Traffic Accidents

Most traffic accidents occurred on Tuesday and Friday in Northbrook. One hundred eight crashes were reported on Tuesdays, while 105 were recorded as happening on a Friday. The day with the fewest traffic accidents was Sunday; only 48 accidents occurred on a Sunday, including the city’s one fatality accident.

Friday was the day that recorded the most crashes involving injury. Twenty-seven accidents resulting in injuries happened on this day of the week alone. Twenty-four injury accidents were reported on Tuesday and another 24 on Wednesday. Sunday was the day of the week with the fewest number of injury car accidents.

Lighting Conditions

Approximately 80% of traffic accidents in Northbrook took place during daylight hours. This included more than 100 of the city’s injury accidents. Ninety-two others happened at night but on streets with artificial lighting. The sole fatality accident took place at night and away from artificial lighting, such as street lamps.

Driver Condition

The majority of motorists involved in wrecks in Northbrook in the time frame examined were deemed to be in normal condition at the time their collisions occurred. However, 13 were found to be under the influence of alcohol, and one additional driver had been drinking earlier. 

Together, these individuals were involved in three injury accidents and 11 crashes resulting in property damage.
